    Project Zip Code Month Makes A Difference – You Still Can Make One, Too!

    Credit unions across Kansas and Missouri stepped up and made their members’ voices heard by running Project Zip Code (PZC) in October. With 55 credit unions running PZC so far, it helps credit unions demonstrate to lawmakers our impact in each legislative district – both federal and state Senate and House – by being able share how many members live and potentially VOTE in that district.

    The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council launched a redesigned Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering InfoBase website, aimed at sharing financial institution examination procedure information with examiners, financial institutions, the public, and other stakeholders.

    Buried in the 700+ pages of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an amendment to the Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA) that credit unions should be aware of as they assist servicemembers applying for the six percent interest rate reduction.

    Regulation Z Annual Inflation-Based Dollar Amount Threshold Adjustments

    The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection recently issued its annual inflation-based adjustments of certain dollar amount thresholds for transactions covered under Regulation Z/Truth in Lending.  The adjustments are based on the annual percentage change reflected in the Consumer Price Index in effect on June 1, 2018, and will become effective on January 1, 2019.
