    Four credit unions rally together to support local food pantry

    A St. Louis-area food pantry received funding for a new walk-in freezer thanks to support from four local credit unions, Arsenal Credit Union, Century Credit Union, First Community Credit Union and Together Credit Union. 

    The new walk-in freezer replaces a malfunctioning, older version, helping the Arnold Food Pantry store nutritious perishables at food-safe temperatures.

    CUPAC silent auction raises funds for advocacy efforts

    Thank you to everyone who supported our Credit Union Political Action Committee silent auction during Boost, our virtual Convention & Annual Meeting. This helps us continue our legislative success by supporting the CUPAC fund, which donates funds to credit union-friendly candidates. A total of 266 bids on eighteen items helped raise $5,336.

    Boost Convention brings more than 650 credit union people together

    Our first virtual, dual-league convention left us motivated, inspired, smarter and most of all, gave us a Boost! We, along with our friends at the Illinois Credit Union League, hosted more than 1,000 participants (1,042 to be exact), for a three-day Convention. We also conducted our annual business meeting, honored award recipients and raised money for our Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC) and Heartland Credit Union Charitable Foundation.

    Don Ackerman and Carole Wight honored with HCUA awards

    Congratulations to two Missouri credit union leaders - Don Ackerman HCUA's 2020 Hall of Fame award winner and Caorle Wight HCUA's 2020 Professional of the Year. Don is president/CEO of Telcomm Credit Union in Springfield, MO, and Carol is president/CEO of Holy Rosary Credit Union in Kansas City, MO. They were honored at Boost, HCUA's joint Convention & Annual Meeting with the Illinois Credit Union League in a virtual awards recognition on Sept. 23.

    HCUA testifies on economic impact of COVID-19 on Kansas financial sector

    HCUA testified before the Kansas Legislature’s Special Committee on Economic Recovery on August 13. The 13-member committee is analyzing the effects of COVID-19 on each sector of the economy, and looking at ways the Legislature may be able to provide resources or regulatory relief to help bolster the state’s recovery.

    Special session and veto session bring lawmakers to Jefferson City

    Governor Mike Parson summoned Missouri lawmakers back to Jefferson City on July 27 for a special session focused on violent crime. The Missouri Senate developed a comprehensive public safety package (Senate Bill 1). The Missouri House split Senate Bill 1 bill into six separate pieces of legislation. Five of the six bills went to the Senate for debate with the Missouri Senate passing two bills and sending them to Governor Parson to sign into law. The remaining three bills went back to the House with changes to vote again.
