    To prevent the spread of Coronavirus, non-essential State employees were directed to begin two weeks of administrative leave beginning on March 23, 2020.  Kansas Department of Credit Unions (KDCU) employees were included.  The leave was scheduled to last two weeks but is expected to be under continuous review.

    HCUA white paper: Impact of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act on Employers

    The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was passed to provide workers impacted by COVID-19 with short-term additional benefits and paid leave. We worked with an outside law firm to complete a white paper that provides guidance on key provisions related to the expanded Family Leave and Medical Act of 1993 (FMLA) protections, emergency paid sick leave, and tax credits for employers.

    State legislatures break early over COVID-19: Where do our credit union bills stand?

    Both the Kansas and Missouri legislatures broke early over coronavirus concerns. Missouri lawmakers broke March 12 with no date yet set for their return, and Kansas lawmakers adjourned March 19 with the tentative expectation of returning April 27. 
    Despite shortened sessions, HCUA’s legislative priorities in both states saw success.

    Phase 3 Package passes U.S. Senate and House with impact to credit unions

    The U.S. House just voted today to approve the Phase 3 stimulus package passed by the U.S. Senate late on March 25. The bill includes multiple sections addressing credit union issues and concerns. We’ve been in constant contact with the Kansas and Missouri Congressional delegations since negotiations intensified early Sunday morning. At time of writing, President Donald Trump has indicated he will sign the bill.
