    PACE Bill Moves Through Senate Committee in Missouri

    The PACE bill (Senate Bill 173), which is supported by credit unions and sponsored by Senator Sandy Crawford (R-District 28), took a step forward last week. It was voted out of the Senate Local Government Committee 5-1. Senate Bill 173 modifies provisions relating to the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program in which PACE providers provide loans to consumers for energy upgrades (ex. solar panels).

    Missouri Lawmakers Back in the Action – Bill Affecting Credit Unions Moves Forward

    The Missouri General Assembly returned to action last week after their annual spring break. While state representatives spent most of their time perfecting and passing Missouri’s $30 billion dollar state operating budget, they also took action on a bill impacting credit unions. The Missouri House passed House Bill 599, which includes language that removes outdated requirements that certain applications and documents be in physical paper format with multiple copies. House Bill 599 is now referre

    More credit union advocates spent time at the Kansas Statehouse last week as part of our CU at the Capitol program. We have a CUPAC in Kansas and Missouri that credit union-friendly lawmakers who support credit unions and our issues of concern with campaign funds. All contributions to CUPAC - both individual and corporate - support credit union political action.

    Missouri PACE Legislation Moves to Rules and Oversight Committee

    Missouri credit union supported legislation saw success this past week when the Missouri House Financial Institutions Committee voted to move House Bill 215 out of committee. HB 215, sponsored by Rep. Bruce DeGroot, modifies provisions relating to the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program, where PACE providers provide loans to consumers for energy upgrades (such as solar panels).

    Missouri House Committee Hears PACE Bill – Examples Requested

    House Bill 215, the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) bill, took center stage in a House Financial Institutions Committee hearing last week. Missouri credit union leaders shared support for increased consumer protections included in the bill during meetings at Day at the Capitol, and Ian Dunlap, HCUA Director of Missouri Legislative and Political Affairs, testified in support during the hearing. PACE providers oppose this bill. There were many supporters and opponents who took part in the hearing.

    New Kansas Bills Introduced on Subprime Loans and More

    Three bills introduced in the Kansas House this past week would make changes of interest to the financial services industry. February 15 marked the last day for new bill introductions in non-exempt committees. However, bills can still be introduced in the budget, tax and Federal & State Affairs committees.
