Voters in Kansas and Missouri are headed to the polls on August 2 for the primary elections. Immediately following the primary election, the Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA) will send a candidate survey regarding credit union issues to the winners and will share responses with our member credit unions.
U.S. Senators heard from one of Missouri's credit union leaders about the impact of regulatory burden on small financial institutions this week. Dennis Pierce, CEO of CommunityAmerica Credit Union (Kansas City) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Credit Union National Association, testified in front of the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs on September 16.
Credit union representatives from Missouri were in Washington, D.C. as Credit Union Champion Ann Wagner (R-District 2) was sworn in for her first term as a member of the U.S. Congress on January 3. Wagner joins fellow Credit Union Champion, U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-District 1), on the Missouri delegation, which was reduced by redistricting to eight U.S.
The Missouri Credit Union Association has arranged meetings with staff at each of the district offices for U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill (D) and Roy Blunt (R). Most of these meetings will take place the week of May 14-18, in advance of National Small Business Week May 20-26.
