Strong Year for Positive Credit Union Legislation in Missouri

Nearly 10 bills with positive impact to credit unions are now on their way to Governor Jay Nixon's (D) desk after receiving final approval by the Missouri General Assembly. Missouri lawmakers had until 6 p.m. on May 13 to advance legislation before the session officially closed. Governor Nixon has until July 14 to either sign, veto or allow a bill to become law.

MCUA Testifies as MMPA Bill Heard in Committee

Testimony on a bill addressing the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA) dominated the first Missouri House Banking Committee meeting of the 2015 legislative session. The Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) is working in support of the bill, HB 256, which is designed to address a growing number of attempts by plaintiffs’ attorneys to apply the MMPA to exempt financial institutions.
