Serious Budget Challenges as Kansas Legislators Return for Veto Session

Kansas lawmakers return to the state capitol to begin the legislature’s veto session on April 27, with significant budget issues looming. Annual state revenue estimates, released April 20, project a $290 million shortfall for Kansas. That includes a $140 million shortfall in the current budget year and a $150 million shortfall for the fiscal year that begins on July 1.
