Credit Unions Win Desjardins, Louise Herring National Awards

Credit unions in Missouri are committed to bettering their communities—and they have the awards to prove it! This year, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) announced that five Missouri credit unions earned national awards in the Desjardins and Louise Herring categories.

These five credit unions included Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union (St. Louis), Mazuma Credit Union (Kansas City), Electro Savings Credit Union (St. Louis), St. Louis Community Credit Union and CommunityAmerica Credit Union (Kansas City).

For the last month, credit unions in the St. Louis area have been collecting coats for Warners' Warm-Up, an organization dedicated to supplying the needy with winter essentials.

Former MCUA Board Member Passes

The Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) lost another long-time board member. Mrs. Evelyn Mae Schuerman, 93, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013. She served on the MCUA Board from 1966 to 1988. She was chair of the board from 1983 to 1985. 

"Evelyn was a dedicated credit union person," says Stan Moeckli, president and CEO of Electro Savings Credit Union. Stan served on the MCUA Board with Evelyn. "She believed in credit unions helping people and the Missouri Credit Union Association."
