A Kansas bill that determines when state versus federal law takes precedence on remittance transfers is now law. The bill, Substitute for House Bill 2062, took effect upon publication in The Kansas Register on May 19.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback (R) has just signed one bill affecting credit unions, while another bill passed this session by Kansas lawmakers still awaits final approval. Substitute for House Bill 2062 and House Bill 2501 will clarify the laws on remittance transfers and certain financial crimes, respectively.
