CU at the Capitol Launch Brings Leaders to Missouri and Kansas

  Missouri group (outside CU house)
Cory Hewitt with Rep. Steve Huebert

The first official round of CU at the Capitol brought credit union leaders to Jefferson City on February 26 to share the credit union difference with lawmakers. Tracey Hannah from CommunityAmerica Credit Union, Mike O’Brien from St. Louis Community Credit Union and Larry Sewell from Anheuser Busch Employees’ Credit Union made the rounds with lawmakers, including a meeting with House Financial Institutions Committee Chairman Jack Bondon to discuss PACE loan legislation.

Meritrust Credit Union’s Cory Hewitt recently made the trip to Topeka for a day of visits with lawmakers. Hewitt joined HCUA’s advocacy team as they testified before the House Institutions Committee and talked credit union issues with lawmakers between committee meetings. He also visited one-on-one with a group of lawmakers over lunch and helped host a reception for lawmakers at HCUA’s Topeka office that evening.

Our CU at the Capitol program gives HCUA members an opportunity to spend a day up close at either the Kansas or Missouri Capitol, learning more about how the legislative process works and seeing how our advocacy team advances credit union issues.

Interested in taking a deeper look into the issues that affect Missouri and Kansas credit unions? Please act quickly to reserve your spot today. To maintain the one-on-one dynamic, we are limiting each session to five people
