Frontier Community Credit Union (Leavenworth, KS) Launches Team Fidelis Grant with $11,000+ Gift

In December, Frontier Community Credit Union donated $11,435 to volunteer group Team Fidelis to kick off its Team Fidelis Grant for the 2018-2019 year.

Frontier Community Credit Union has pledged to donate up to $5 of every auto loan to Team Fidelis. December’s donation included a $1,500 grant from the Armed Forces Financial Network and a $2,000 grant from the Heartland Credit Union Charitable Foundation. Grant funds will support the organization’s current programs, as well as certify at least two mental health professionals.

Team Fidelis’ mission is to end the epidemic of veteran suicide by raising awareness, providing a bridge of hope and building camaraderie between veterans and their community. Its programs include mental health first aid training, help for homeless veterans and providing veterans and their families ways to take a break from their worries

“I am thrilled Frontier Community Credit Union is supporting Team Fidelis through an ongoing grant,” says Daniel Brazzell, founder/executive director of Team Fidelis. “It will play a critical role in accomplishing our mission of assisting veterans.”

“Fort Leavenworth’s military and civil personnel have supported the credit union since its start in 1954,” says Michael J. Augustine, Frontier Community Credit Union’s president and CEO. “This grant is our way to say thank you to our veteran community. And, providing extra resources to Team Fidelis is crucial for them to maintain a high level of care in this much-needed cause.”

Credit Union of America (Wichita, KS) Provides Free Financial Literacy Resources

Credit Union of America (CUA) has partnered with Currency Marketing to bring free financial literacy resources called “It’s a MONEY THING®” to local teachers and families.

It’s a Money Thing is a collection of online resources targeting middle school students, high school students and college-age young adults. The information is also fun for adults that want to brush up on their financial savviness. Materials for each of the 37 financial topics include a handout, screen presentation, infographic, and a cartoon video featuring an older teen character named Jen. The videos are relevant to today’s young people and just 2-4 min. in length.

Kym Money, CUA’s vice president of marketing, states “We’re excited to provide age appropriate financial information that will prepare our youth for life’s financial challenges. It’s particularly rewarding to provide our local teachers with free and accessible resources for non-traditional subjects, such as financial literacy.”

Anyone can access the program materials through CUA’s website.
