Key Missouri Committees Meet for First Time

The Missouri Senate Insurance and Banking and House Financial Institutions Committees met for the first time last week. These committees focus on issues of importance for credit unions.

While the Senate focused on insurance bills, the House Financial Institutions Committee heard two bills with potential impact to credit unions.

  • HB 354 deals with protections in financial services to vulnerable citizens. Sponsored by Rep. Dean Plocher (R-89), it  adds broker-dealers and investment advisors to the individuals covered under the Senior Savings Protection Act.
  • HB 599, sponsored by Rep. Jack Bondon (R-56) is clean-up language for banks, trust companies, and savings and loan associations making updates for physical paper format requirements for certain applications and documents. We are investigating impact and inclusion for Missouri credit unions.
