Kansas Credit Unions Testify in Senate

Stephanie Mullholland with Senate Financial Institutions Chairman Sen. Rob Olson (R-Olathe)

HCUA testified on January 15 before the Kansas Senate Financial Institutions & Insurance Committee during the committee’s first meeting of the session.

Stephanie Mullholland, our director of Kansas legislative and political affairs, spoke about the distinction between not-for-profit credit unions and for-profit banks. She also discussed how Kansas credit unions are rooted in their local economy, often having ties to the major employers and social organizations in their communities.

The committee also heard from Jerel Wright, administrator of the Kansas Department of Credit Unions, about the state of the industry. We’ll testify again on January 28 before the House Financial Institutions & Pensions Committee.
