  Treasurer Eric Schmitt

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has tapped Missouri State Treasurer Eric Schmitt (R) to serve as Missouri’s 43rd Attorney General. Schmitt will replace current Attorney General Josh Hawley (R), who will resign his position to be sworn in the United States Senate on January 3, 2019.

A member of the Missouri bar since 2000, Schmitt worked in private practice before serving as alderman for Glendale, Missouri from 2005 to 2008, followed by eight years in the Missouri Senate. He won the treasurer’s race in 2016. Treasurer Schmitt will coordinate with current Attorney General Hawley to ensure a smooth transition on January 3.
