Kansas Credit Union Members One of First to Receive Benefits of Save to Win Program

Kansas and Missouri credit union members are already seeing benefits of prize-linked savings programs (PLS) like Save to Win. PLS programs offer incentives such as regular drawings and prizes to people who save money in a designated account.

Emporia State Federal Credit Union (Emporia, KS) and Credit Union of America (Wichita, KS) both awarded three members with cash prizes, simply because they deposited as little as $25 into their eligible account.

Five Kansas and Missouri credit unions either offer the Save to Win program or their own PLS version of the program. Another Missouri credit union is scheduled to launch next month.

Last year, we helped pass legislation so Kansas and Missouri credit unions could offer these programs to their members. The Kansas Department of Credit Unions issued guidelines for the program in July.

Since 2009, credit union members have saved nearly $140 million nationwide through Save to Win. On average, that’s $1,275-$2745 per account. In addition, Save to Win has awarded more than $2.3 million in prizes to credit union members. More than 100 credit unions in 12 states offer the program.

There’s Still Time to Sign Up

Credit unions who sign up by October 31 can launch starting January 1. The Save to Win program includes an annual contribution fee for all participating credit unions. For more information:
