Emporia State Federal Credit Union and Quantum Credit Union Impact Their Communities

Veterans Take Flight: Quantum Credit Union Honors Kansas Heroes

As a way to give back to the community, Quantum Credit Union created “Quantum Cares,” a program that collects donations to benefit a local non-profit.

Last month, Quantum presented $2,501.11 to Kansas Honor Flight, a program that takes veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service. When the veterans return, local military personnel and children from local schools greet them at the airport. Kansas Honor Flight has sent 44 flights with 1,309 Kansas veterans to Washington, D.C. The cost to send a veteran is $700 and all costs for the veteran are covered by Kansas Honor Flight.

“Our intent with the Quantum Cares initiative is to align ourselves with local non-profits that share our core values, and those that we can positively impact,” said Quantum Credit Union president Chuck Bullock. “And in an effort to salute the heritage members of our credit union, I just can’t think of a more deserving organization than Kansas Honor Flight. What a special feeling, to think that our contribution could impact the lives of three Kansas veterans. This is what Quantum Cares is all about.”

To further the impact of the Quantum Cares program, Quantum has pledged to match member contributions up to $1,000 per month throughout 2017.

Emporia State Federal Credit Union Helps Raise $4000, One Penny at a Time

Emporia State Federal Credit Union (Emporia, KS) helped local elementary schools raise money for the Pennies for Patients program. Two of the credit union's elementary schools had a penny war, and each school brought their coins into the credit union to count their stash. The Emporia State FCU staff joined the fun by making a donation to participate in PJ Day with the schools. Together, both schools raised over $4,000. See more photos on the credit union's Facebook page.
