Save to Win Prize-Linked Savings Program Now Available to Kansas and Missouri Credit Unions

With nearly half of Americans unable to come up with $400 for an emergency, your credit union can help members bolster their savings.

Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA) member credit unions can incentivize smart saving and attract new members at the same time with the Save to Win prize-linked savings program. HCUA worked with the Kansas and Missouri legislatures to pass laws last year allowing credit unions to participate in this type of savings program.

Save to Win is a 12-month share certificate program that encourages members to save by offering chances to win cash prizes ranging from $25 to $5000. To help encourage healthy savings habits, the program also provides member financial education tools and resources to participating credit unions.

For every $25 deposit, account holders are entered into monthly and quarterly cash prize drawings. Members are guaranteed to have more money saved than when they started, plus interest, regardless of the drawing outcome.

Prize-linked savings programs appeal to members who may not be in the habit of saving, and can also help your credit union grow.

  • More than 30% of Save to Win accounts are held by millennials
  • Nearly 15% of Save to Win accountholders joined their credit union to access Save to Win
  • Save to Win has awarded more than $2 million in cash prizes to credit union members
  • Save to Win has encouraged nearly $140 million in member savings

Working together with Save to Win can help your credit union more easily offer a savings program to your members. Credit unions may also choose to create and offer their own individual prize-linked savings program, outside of Save to Win.
