Federal Lawmakers Accept Appointments & Leadership Roles

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO District 3) is the newly appointed Chair of the House Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee. U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO District 2) is the Chair of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Both are subcommittees of the House Financial Services Committee, which hears many of the bills and issues relevant to credit unions.

U.S. Reps. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS District 2) and Jason Smith (R-MO District 8) both serve on the House Ways and Means Committee, which handles tax issues. U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-KS District 3) serves on the House Appropriations Committee.

House Democrats have not yet distributed all committee appointments.

U.S. Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS District 4) will have his confirmation hearing as head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on January 12.  He would then have to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. That would begin the process for a special election to select a new member of Congress from Kansas’ Congressional District 4.

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) will no longer serve on the Senate Banking Committee, but will continue on Appropriations with U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (R-Missouri). U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) has been named to the Senate Finance Committee.
