ICU Day: Kansas, Missouri Credit Unions Honor Cooperative Principles

For more than 160 years, credit unions have put people before profit. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives guided by nine principles, including democratic control, social responsibility, and returning all profits to members.

On International Credit Union Day, October 20, more than 217 million credit union members at 56,000 credit unions around the world celebrated the people-first principles that have helped lift people out of poverty and strengthened communities all over the globe.

McPherson CO-OP Credit Union Throws Tailgate Party for Members

McPherson CO-OP Credit Union celebrated members and ICU Day with a car show and tailgate party.

As a select employer group (SEG) credit union, the credit union employees celebrated ICU Day a bit differently - they hosted their annual Tailgate Party for employees of the CHS refinery and their families on Friday, October 14.

McPherson CO-OP Credit Union (McPherson, KS) teamed up with CHS and held the car show and party in the refinery's parking lot. CHS employees were encouraged to bring in their "pride and joy" to work, including cars, boats, motorcycles, tractors, etc.

Of course no tailgate is complete without plenty of food and beverages! The credit union brought food trucks, and provided food and drinks. They also hosted hourly prize drawings, with the grand prize was a trip to the NASCAR race in the spring.
