Arsenal Awards Scholarship to Local College Student

Andrew Martin is the first recipient of a $500 scholarship that Arsenal has established for students at Southwestern Illinois College, Lindenwood University and vocational schools in the area based on GPA, community involvement, and a 100-word essay.

The new award complements other scholarships that the credit union has been giving for the past 19 years to high school seniors who graduate in the spring and continue their education.

Martin is majoring in software development at SWIC after transferring from Eastern Illinois University, which he attended after graduating from Collinsville High School in 2014. He is a resident of St. Jacob (IL) and active in his community, including volunteering at a local Habit for Humanity ReStore, a nonprofit center that sells furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. He also is involved with Music For All, a nonprofit organization that provides educational and performance programs and events for school bands and orchestras.

Neighbors Credit Union Hosts Multiple Credit Report Seminars

Neighbors Credit Union hosted three free credit report seminars on August 23, 30 and 31, 2016.

Tracy Lindhorst, assistant vice president of Lending, conducted all three educational seminars. The seminars explained what a credit report and credit score is and how to systematically read them.

Attendees learned where consumer-reporting agencies get their information and what factors are used to calculate their score.

Each registered guest received free educational materials and a copy of their own credit report and credit score to follow along with during the presentation. After each seminar, members were able to discuss their credit reports with a Neighbors’ specialist and have their personal questions answered. Two lucky winners at each seminar walked away with gift cards as prizes. Each seminar was proven to be a success with a combined turnout of approximately 100 attendees.

Seminars are free and open to the public.

Vantage Credit Union Celebrates Employee of 35 Years

Vantage Credit Union employees celebrated regional manager, Donyella Woods, at a recent management team meeting for her 35 years of dedication to the credit union. She’s one of only two employees who have reached this milestone. Eric Acree, CEO/president, presented her with a Waterford vase and Randy Yeck, executive vice president, presented her with an anniversary plaque and pin to mark the special occasion.

“Her knowledge, wisdom and energy continue to positively impact the lives of our members and employees,” said CEO, Eric Acree.  “I am thankful for Donyella’s countless contributions and look forward to her continued success.”

Woods, who has held multiple leadership positions throughout her career at the credit union, felt honored to be recognized for her service.

“I follow the credit union philosophy of people helping people,” commented Woods. “It’s such a blessing to help our members and make a difference in their lives. I love to see those members come back months and years later.”

Vantage works hard to create a great work environment and prides itself on the length of time employees stay. Currently, more than 70 employees have been with the credit union for 15 years or longer.
