Primary Election Brings Surprises and Shake-Ups

Voters in Kansas and Missouri headed to the polls to vote on federal, statewide, and state Senate and House races on August 2. It brought a shake-up with significant losses for incumbents in Kansas – including U.S. Representative Tim Huelskamp (R- KS District 1). In Missouri, statewide election results favored political outsiders in often crowded primary races.

The Heartland Credit Union Association saw a 94 percent election night success in state races with 70 of the 74 HCUA-supported candidates winning in the Missouri primary, and 46 out of the 49 HCUA-supported candidates winning in the Kansas primary.
