CUlead Spotlight: Amanda Martin

Throughout 2016, we will feature each of our CUlead participants.

Amanda Martin, Member Service/Teller Supervisor
Central Missouri Community Credit Union, Warrensburg, MO

Who is a great leader (living or deceased) and what makes (made) them a great leader?
As hard as it was to decide who to talk about in this question, I chose Eleanor Roosevelt.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt.

As the wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Eleanor helped redefine the role of the First Lady. After President Roosevelt’s death, Eleanor continued her humanitarian efforts by helping to develop the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and UNICEF. Her ability to redefine expectations is a reminder that great leaders always look for opportunities to break the mold.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
During the work week the first thing I do in the morning is go in my daughter’s room and turn on the light to wake them up. On weekends that we don’t have plans I lay in bed until my children come in asking what’s for breakfast.

What is your favorite thing to do to celebrate Independence Day, July 4?
My husband races at the dirt track near us and for the last couple of years we have spent time as a family at the track watching the firework display and honoring our military.

The art of leadership.
CUlead is a program aimed at building and enhancing our credit union management staffs' leadership abilities to further the credit union and cooperative movements.
