Arsenal Credit Union Recognizes Young Members’ Achievements

Students who excel in the classroom and shine in the community during their high school years are recognized each year with college scholarships from Arsenal Credit Union (Arnold, MO). This year, the credit union awarded a total of $5,400 – the maximum amount possible – to four students who are members of the credit union.

  • Allison Moser (Notre Dame High School) earned a $1,500 scholarship. She plans to pursue a degree in political science, followed by a degree in law at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Nile Trice (Pattonville High School) also received a $1,500 scholarship. She has been accepted into the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, where she plans to obtain a degree in history, followed by a law degree.
  • Emilea Bullen (Mehlville High School) received a $1,200 scholarship, which she will apply toward a degree in French education or wildlife biology at Murray State University in Kentucky.
  • Alayna Blake (Fox High School) was also honored with a $1,200 scholarship. She plans to put the money toward bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.

Since initiating the scholarship program in 1997, Arsenal has awarded a total of $64,450 to 71 deserving young men and women. Every year, scholarship recipients are judged on their academic achievements, community involvement, extracurricular school activities and a written essay.

Neighbors Credit Union Aids Community with Shred Day

Recently, Neighbors Credit Union (St. Louis, MO) hosted its 11th Annual Shred Day. Neighbors teamed up with Shred-It, a document shredding company, to provide the community with the opportunity to shred documents containing personal information. The credit union served more than 100 members and area residents within a three-hour period, shredding a total of 6,110 pounds of paper.

“It was a rainy, dismal day but that did not stop our members and area residents from dropping off their personal and confidential documents for shredding,” says Denise Brady, Neighbor's vice president of retail sales and service.  “Members placed their documents into a container, then the container is emptied into the shredding truck and shredded immediately. Members can even monitor the destruction of their documents from a monitor. Our members are always very grateful to us for providing this service - it gives them peace of mind.”

Neighbor is dedicated to educating the community about the importance of protecting against identity theft. The credit union's website includes helpful tips for identifying common scams, protecting your identity and managing identity theft once it occurs.

Vantage Credit Union Offers Samsung Pay to Members

Vantage Credit Union (St. Louis, MO) is now offering members access to Samsung Pay, the new way for Vantage cardholders to pay with their eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Samsung Pay, a mobile payment service from Samsung Electronics, is simple, safe and available almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your credit card.

“At a time when consumers are looking for mobile payment solutions that are safe, simple, and widely accepted, we’re pleased to offer Vantage members Samsung Pay,” says Dolores Logan-Gump, director of automated services.

Vantage cardholders have been asking when more mobile payment options, like Samsung Pay, would be available. Samsung Pay is available on a variety of the latest Samsung devices. Users can simply swipe up to launch the app, secure the transaction with a fingerprint and hover the device over the card reader to complete the payment. Samsung Pay uses tokenization, Samsung KNOX, and fingerprint authentication to provide secure payments.
