Leverage Social Media During Hike the Hill

Use social media to strengthen the credit union message during the Heartland Credit Union Association’s Hike the Hill! As credit union leaders from Kansas and Missouri head to Washington, D.C. on June 14, your tweets and Facebook posts will help showcase the credit union difference.

For your voice to be heard, tag lawmakers in your social media updates and use the hashtag #HCUA (so we can share your content). Check out this handy list of lawmakers’ accounts.

Not sure what to share with lawmakers? Here are a few examples of what to share from your credit union’s social media accounts:

  • Links to “Unite for Good” stories
  • Member testimonials
  • Remind them you serve their constituents, for example - @CongrmnABC, we help better the financial lives of 24,980 folks in ABC County! #CUDifference #HCUA

Please use your best judgment when composing updates for lawmakers. Use respectful language at all times, and consider sharing just one update with each lawmaker a day. Only tweet to lawmakers that have a significant number of your members in their district, such as both U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives in your region, rather than the entire Congressional delegation.
