Use the Huffington Post to Spread Your Credit Union’s Stories

Got a good credit union story to tell? Submit it to the Huffington Post! As one of the most recognized websites in the world, the Huffington Post now has a section dedicated to credit unions and you can submit your own credit union difference story.

Current submissions featured on the site are from Jim Nussle, President/CEO of CUNA and Lisa Ginter, CommunityAmerica Credit Union (Lenexa, KS) among other credit union advocates from Texas, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.

With about 80 million views a month, this is prime real estate to show how your credit union supports your members, and it's vital to your community and promotes financial literacy to all ages. You will notice the current stories on the site are short, and it’s easy to submit them. Use this link and fill out the form. The best part is, it’s free!

Not sure where to start? Here are some tips for telling your story:

  • Think of your reader – what’s in it for them? Write your story so it’s apparent what benefit the credit union provided.
  • Think of times you helped a member create a budget, pay down debt or start a savings plan. What about your financial literacy efforts in your community or local school?
  • Be personal, but don’t include any member names, financial information or any identifying information.
  • Be sure it’s timely and relevant.
  • Keep is simple.
  • As always, use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and stay away from a controversial topic.

Once it’s posted, remember to share through your social media accounts and add it to your website.
