By the Numbers: Kansas and Missouri Credit Unions

Each quarter, we will provide an updated version of statistics for Kansas and Missouri. The updated numbers are based on data from NCUA, CUNA and the FDIC.

As of December 2015, there were 213 credit unions in Kansas and Missouri, serving 2.1 million members. The total number of credit unions nationwide dropped 60 to 6,153. Missouri lost one credit union, Kansas credit union count remained at 88.  

In 2015, Kansas and Missouri credit union members received $177 million in direct benefits - just by being a credit union member.

Total assets in Missouri rose to $13.1 billion, and Kansas assets rose to $6.1 billion, as compared to September 2015 numbers. Both Kansas and Missouri loans increased as well.

Credit unions in Missouri hold 7.3 percent market share in Missouri, while credit unions in Kansas hold 8.4 percent of the market share in their state.
