Missouri's Credit Union House Welcomes Lawmakers

Missouri's Credit Union House in Jefferson City was the scene for a St. Patrick's Day-themed reception for three lawmakers - Missouri State Reps. Paul Fitzwater (R-District 144), Lyndall Fraker (R-District 137) and Craig Redmon (R-District 4).  Reps. Fraker and Redmon serve on the House Banking Committee, a key committee for credit unions.

The Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA) welcomed more than 40 people to the event on March 16. Attendees included leadership from both the Republican and Democrat parties, legislators, friends and supporters.

"This event was right before the lawmakers headed home for spring break, following a long week of work in the House.  It allowed us to interact in an informal setting, and strengthen our relationships with lawmakers as they go back to the districts and have a chance to meet with credit union advocates at home," says David Kent, HCUA Director of State Legislative Affairs - Missouri.

Several receptions for lawmakers have taken place at Missouri Credit Union House in 2016.  One more is scheduled for Reps. Jon Carpenter (D-District 15) and Rory Rowland (D-District 29) on March 29. Rep. Carpenter is a longtime member of Northland Teachers' Community Credit Union, and he also serves on the House Select Committee on Financial Institutions and Taxation. Rep. Rowland has worked in the credit union industry, and he also serves on the House Banking Committee.
