HCUA Kansas, Missouri Advocacy Update

Both the Missouri and Kansas legislative sessions kick off this month; the Missouri session begins January 6 and the Kansas session kicks off Monday, January 11.

The 2016 session looks to be filled with several complex and important issues heading into the election cycle this fall. Among the topics are discussions about education funding, the state budget, and more.

As the new Heartland Credit Union Association, we will keep you up to date on the legislative sessions in both states.

KANSAS: Day at the Capital, February 9

The 2016 HCUA Kansas Credit Union Day at the Capitol is Tuesday, February 9. Your presence this year is more important than ever. This event is full of opportunities to learn more about the legislative process, hear from legislative leadership, interact face to face with legislators and communicate the credit union difference. These face-to-face meetings strengthen the credit union industry and reinforce the vital role credit unions play in their communities. The cost is $20 to attend the Kansas Day at the Capitol (the evening legislative reception is free).

On February 9, you’ll have a chance to meet with legislators from your district, attend committee hearings, take an optional Capitol Tour, and hear from a legislative panel from both the House and the Senate as they discuss the top issues of the 2016 legislative session. At 5:30 p.m., join HCUA at our Legislative Reception, where we have extended an invitation to all 40 Senators and 125 Representatives in Kansas. The reception is free, so show your support by attending this important event.
