Vantage CU Gets Into the Holiday Spirit of Giving

Vantage Credit Union (Bridgeton) demonstrates its commitment to the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People" by contributing money, time and knowledge to those who need it most. Each year, Vantage gives back to the community in a number of ways, including donating thousands of dollars to worthwhile charities, awarding 20 $1,000 college scholarships to high school seniors, and providing free financial education presentations and materials to local students.

Vantage employees and members recently collected more than 300 items to send to U.S. troops overseas. Among the items donated were a Keurig coffee pot, food, magazines, footballs, card games, warm socks, gloves and many other items. The care package was assembled for A Soldier’s Wish List, an organization the credit union learned of through the St. Louis USO at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. The USO chose an Army Chaplain’s troop serving more than 500 military personnel in Afghanistan for Vantage to “adopt.”

“It’s never fun to be away from your family for extended periods of time, especially around the holidays,” says Nicole Nill, Credit Union Insurance Agency Assistant Manager. “What better way to boost their spirits than to send unexpected gifts during the holidays?”

In addition, Vantage recently presented a check for $6,168 to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). The credit union raised the funds through Six Flags ticket sales during the 2015 season. Members bought their tickets at discounted rates, and all proceeds were donated to Children’s Miracle Network. Vantage is a proud supporter of local children’s hospitals.

CMN is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. In addition to donating the proceeds from its annual Six Flags ticket sales, the credit union participates in other CMN cooperative efforts, including an annual Bowl-A-Thon.

“These two local hospitals help thousands of children and families each year,” comments Jenny Sandifer, Marketing Specialist, who coordinated the ticket sales. “Supporting CMN allows Vantage to support their continued success in improving the health and well-being of children.”
