Two Credit Unions Share Their ICU Day Events

On October 15, 2015, credit unions around the world celebrated International Credit Union Day (ICU Day). Since 1948, on the third Thursday of every October, credit unions have celebrated a simple but radical idea—that by working together, people can improve their financial well-being.

“People helping people,” this year’s ICU Day theme, is the foundational philosophy of the credit union movement, going back to the very beginning.

Two Missouri credit unions shared what they did to help their members and staff celebrate the day.

Holy Rosary Credit Union (Kansas City)
Holy Rosary hosted events on both Thursday, October 15, and Friday, October 16. The credit union staffers held a coloring contest for kids, a prize drawing, and gave out treats all day.

Holy Rosary enjoyed celebrating with their members.

Mercy Credit Union (Springfield)
Mercy Credit Union celebrated International Credit Union Day at its five locations on October 15. Members enjoyed snacks, refreshments and giveaways. In honor of this year’s theme “People Helping People,” the credit union kicked off a food drive that runs from Oct. 15-30.

Donations will be made to Ozarks Food Harvest (Springfield), Crosslines (Joplin), St. Louis Area Foodbank and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
