Salute to America: Bank On More, CUs Sponsor July 4th Event

Bank On More and credit union volunteers celebrated Independence Day in a big way by participating in Salute to America, an event that draws thousands of people to downtown Jefferson City each year.

The event kicked off on Thursday, July 2, with tons of sand being dumped on Madison Street—right outside of Credit Union House! Bank On More sponsored this sand area; we gave out branded beach pails and balls and invited all attendees to play in the sand with us. This Thursday also marked the last Thursday Night Live of the season.

Thursday Night Live is a free outdoor music concert that brings talented musicians to the stage. Madison Street is closed down for the night, and attendees can enjoy food, fun and freebies. Bank On More sponsored all six of the Thursday Night Lives that led up to Salute to America, and credit union volunteers worked the booth and handed out Bank On More goodies, like Frisbees, water bottles and hand sanitizer.

Salute to America had many exciting shows and activities on July 3-4, and Bank On More volunteers had a blast talking to both credit union members and nonmembers! Kiddos and parents alike enjoyed digging in the sand and playing with the beach balls and pails. At the end of the event, we handed out 500 pails, 500 beach balls, 400 suckers and hundreds of Frisbees.

Bank On More also sponsored the sand-carving event. Three champion sand sculptors created a patriotic masterpiece. See photo at bottom right.

We thank every single volunteer who shared Bank On More’s message during the Thursday Night Lives and Salute to America—we’re getting the credit union word out with each and every community event!

Credit Unions Sponsor Salute to America Activities

On July 3, River Region Credit Union sponsored the 10th Annual Little Mr. and Miss Independence Contest. Any boy or girl, ages 4-6, can enter the contest, and the winners are selected based on their personality. River Region awarded $100 to each winner in addition to the customary sash, crown and trophy, and all participants received scholastic goodie bags.

On July 4, the festivities concluded with the Red, White and BOOM! Sky Concert, sponsored by Missouri Credit Union. This was one of the largest fireworks displays in the state. And if attendees tuned their radios to NASH 100.1 while watching the fireworks, they could see how the show was “choreographed” to the music.
