Missouri Credit Unions Celebrate National Youth Month

Credit unions in Missouri celebrated “Wild About Saving™” during National Credit Union Youth Month™, which took place April 1-30. The month-long celebration gave credit unions an opportunity to convey the importance of financial education at a young age.

At Arsenal Credit Union (Arnold), all members age 18 and younger who made deposits of any amount into their Arsenal account during the month were automatically entered into drawings at that the credit union. Prizes were given away for three different age categories: Ages 8 and under, ages 9-12 and members 13-18. In addition, all youth members had a chance to win $100 from CUNA, as Arsenal participated in its youth savings challenge.

Mercy Credit Union (Springfield) celebrated by encouraging youth to get “Wild About Saving” at the credit union. Whether opening up a savings/checking account or teaching youth sound financial habits, Mercy encouraged members to use the credit union as a resource. Youth who made a deposit during April also received a prize.
