Alliance Donates to Local Animal Shelter

The employees of Alliance Credit Union (Fenton) work diligently to serve their members. Their level of caring, though, extends beyond making sure their members lead successful financial lives. Each month, employees raise money through dress down days for charities such as Annie’s Hope, Cardinals Care and the Children’s Miracle Network. These charities are often suggested by employees.

“This is an easy, simple way of giving back," says Amber Schmich, lead teller for the Fenton branch.

Employees can pay $10 or $15 per month to wear jeans on Fridays and/or Saturdays. Participants appreciate that Alliance offers them a way to provide for the communities that they serve. Alliance makes it convenient for staffers to contribute through payroll deductions.

January’s charity was chosen based on a recommendation from Sean Chambers, Alliance's VP of Lending. The Chambers family adopted a pet from the Animal Sanctuary about six years ago. His German shepherd mix, Chief, was the consummate protector, always sitting on the couch, ready to ward off strangers and unwanted vehicles. When Chief passed away in 2014, Sean and his family adopted another pet from the sanctuary.

In February, Alliance's staffers presented a check to the shelter for more than $1,000.

“Alliance employees have a long history of generosity. It’s not surprising to see this outpouring of support” says Frank Evans, VP of Human Resources.

This year marks the sanctuary's 40th anniversary. Volunteers and supporters have started a capital campaign to raise $400,000 for the shelter.

“The money donated by the employees of Alliance Credit Union will go toward day-to-day operation costs of running the shelter,” says Carrie Warren, director of Development for the animal sanctuary.
