Receptions Highlight Credit Union Presence in Jefferson City

Credit unions made an impact with back-to-back events in Jefferson City this week.

The Central Chapter of Credit Unions welcomed lawmakers for its annual legislative reception on February 17.   Central Chapter members from nine credit unions met with nearly a dozen lawmakers who represent Mid-Missouri or who serve on key committees.

“It was a great opportunity to meet with lawmakers and highlight the credit union difference,” says Louie Delk, vice-chairperson for the Central Chapter, who attended the event.  “We were able to discuss credit union issues with them, share our success stories and also learn more about their legislative priorities and personal interests.”

The following credit unions participated in the event:  Bothwell Hospital Employees Credit Union; Conservation Employees Credit Union; Employment Security Credit Union; First Financial Credit Union; Missouri Credit Union; MO Electric Co-op Employees Credit Union; River Region Credit Union; Tigers Credit Union; and, United Credit Union.

State lawmakers headed to the Missouri Credit Union Association’s Jefferson City office the following night, February 18, to attend a reception held by four House members.   Representatives Paul Fitzwater (R-District 144), Lyndall Fraker (R-District 137), Jim Neely (R-District 8) and Craig Redmon (R-District 4) were joined by more than 30 friends and supporters at Credit Union House.  Rep. Redmon is a member of the House Banking Committee.

According to Project Zip Code, the following credit union members reside in each district:  Rep. Fitzwater - 3,142; Rep. Fraker - 7,497; Rep. Neely - 5,111; and Rep. Redmon - 3,049.
