Luetkemeyer Introduces Privacy Notice Bill

U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-District 3) introduced HR 601, the Eliminate Privacy Notice Act. This is the third time Luetkemeyer has introduced the bill, which would eliminate the current requirement that every year, financial institutions have to mail consumers privacy notices explaining information sharing practices – even when a financial institution’s privacy policies have not changed. The bill would instead require the information be shared with consumers when privacy policies change. 

The bill would save credit unions time and money by eliminating redundant mailings, while still ensuring people are informed of privacy changes when they occur at the credit union.
