Meet with Lawmakers at Annual Advocacy Meeting

Credit union volunteers and leaders from across the state will be attending the Missouri Credit Union Association’s (MCUA) Annual Advocacy Meeting, February 9-10 in Jefferson City.

MCUA encourages credit union advocates to attend this two-day event, as it allows them to share how their credit unions make a difference in Missouri communities and discuss legislation that could impact credit unions and their members.

One of the priority concerns facing credit unions is HB 256. Credit union advocates will have the opportunity to explain the need for proposed clarifications in the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA). The MMPA bill was heard in committee on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Jefferson City. For more details on this story, click here.

Attendees will be briefed on state legislative issues in advance of meetings with lawmakers. The event also includes information by long-time credit union lobbyist John McKechnie on federal issues and a presentation by Josh Allison, of Think Café, addressing how credit union advocates can effectively convey their credit union’s unique stories in multiple ways.
