CU Community Credit Union Helps Santa at Boyd Elementary

Second graders at Boyd Elementary (Springfield) received a special visit from Santa on December 10, 2014.

For the 10th year in a row, employees at CU Community Credit Union (Springfield) adopted the second grade classes and provided toys, clothing and other items to the children. Credit Union employees and generous donors collected nearly $2,500 in cash and donated items for this event, which totaled more than $10,000 in donations since starting this Christmas tradition in 2005.

This year, there are more than 50 second grade students in two classes at Boyd Elementary.

"Boyd Elementary School is one of our neighbors," says Judy Hadsall, CU Community Credit Union president and CEO. "We are honored to take part in this tradition and also bring these deserving kids a few fun surprises."

A few of the 2014 donations included clothing donated by Third Street Sportswear in Ozark, coats, fleece blankets, Disney Frozen Elsa dolls, Pillow Pets, Nerf toys, hats and gloves, soaps and coloring books. Credit union members have also helped fund this project by purchasing ornament icons to help decorate the Christmas trees in the credit union and participating in a gift basket drawing.

CU Community received press on the event from local CBS affiliate, KOLR10, and were also was featured in the Springfield News-Leader.
