New Missouri Credit Union Forms to Serve Lutherans

Late last month, the National Credit Union Association granted a charter for the launch of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod-focused credit union. It will be named Lutheran Federal Credit Union (St. Louis). This is the first time since 2005 that a new credit union has been formed in Missouri and only the third new federally chartered credit union nationwide since 2014.

The charter garnered local press coverage. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on the accomplishment and noted that it’s rare to see a new credit union despite the rise in credit union members.

The Post-Dispatch interviewed Liz Adams, SVP of Member Relations for the Missouri Credit Union Association, about the new credit union.

“The new Lutheran Federal Credit Union has the advantage of having a large membership to draw members from,” says Adams. “They have a well established membership base to draw from and good backing.”
