Holiday Shopping = Retail Data Breach Concerns

The holiday season means more people are shopping – many with debit and credit cards.  One year after the Target data breach, the real threat of retail data breach is a continued concern for credit unions and their members in Missouri.

These concerns are highlighted in an op-ed article co-authored by Credit Union National Association and Independent Community Bankers Association leaders.  It appeared in The Hill, a publication featuring political and legislative news, on December 15.

The Missouri Credit Union Association shared the article and additional data breach information with the Missouri delegation, urging action in the next session of Congress.  When Congress convenes in 2015, all legislation must be re-submitted.

In advance of the 2015 session, credit union advocates – including staff, volunteers and members – are encouraged to communicate data breach concerns with Congress by visiting: http://www.stopthedatabreaches.com/
