BluCurrent Credit Union Awards $6,000 in Scholarships
BluCurrent Credit Union (Springfield) awarded three students a college scholarship this spring. The BluCurrent Memorial Scholarship Program was established in 1994 as a way to honor former elected officials, while also helping young members of the credit union that plan to pursue higher education. Since its inception, the scholarship has awarded more than $40,000 to more than 40 southwest Missouri high school seniors.
The 2014 John Schlichting Memorial Scholarship awarded $2,000 each to three graduating high school seniors.
Juliana Beatie is an Aurora High School graduate. Juliana plans to attend Evangel University to pursue a degree in Music Education. Juliana hopes to teach vocal and instrumental music at the elementary and high school level.
Katie Bussard graduated from Nixa High School. Katie plans to attend Missouri State University where she hopes to complete the pre-medicine program before going on to medical school. Katie's goal is to one day conduct medical research for St. Jude.
Carlee Luttrell is a Logan-Rogersville graduate. Carlee plans to attend Oklahoma State University, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Veterinary Option. She hopes to eventually start her own veterinary clinic.
“We believe providing scholarships is another way to give back to our members," says Craig Tabor, BluCurrent Credit Union president/CEO. "It especially helps our younger members improve their lives, which lines up with our motto and desire of 'Building Better Lives Together.'”
