United Labor's Final Push for Donations
United Labor Credit Union (Kansas City, Mo.) is in its final push and requesting much-needed donations for the last shipment of supplies to be sent to Afghanistan-deployed Navy Seabees, Charlie Company. Thanks to a long list of donors, nearly one ton of supplies will have been delivered by United Labor during volunteer Greg Davison's tour of duty, which began in December 2012.
Davison's presence has been missed by the credit committee on which he serves, but moreover by his family, friends and co-workers at Sheet Metal Workers' Local Union No. 2 in Kansas City, Mo. United Labor's latest shipment will leave the office Aug. 9, 2013; Davison will return to the U.S. in the following months.
The largest need at this time is funding for shipping, which has averaged over $1,000 per monthly delivery to the Middle East. Also requested by the troops: any powdered water additives, items to help keep them cool, and other special reminders or "tastes of home" (Topsy's popcorn, Gates Barbecue sauces and seasonings, home-made cookies, etc.)
Those wishing to generously donate funding for the crowning shipment of supplies, or goods for the 150 troops, please contact Tim Vogler, at 816.313.2848 or by email. You can also drop off items at United Labor, 6320 Manchester Ave., Suite 41-C, Kansas City, MO 64133.
Deadline for contributions is Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.
