1st Financial Federal To Host Women and Investing Seminar

1st Financial Federal Credit Union is hosting a complimentary Women and Investing seminar on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the 1st Financial Hazelwood branch, located at 5916 North Lindbergh.

There are differences in the way men and women journey through their lives. Historically, women have earned less and lived longer than men. Yet 25 percent of women have neither retirement savings or other savings.1 Their careers are often interrupted to care for family, and the career “breaks” that women take more frequently than men mean they often receive smaller pension checks when they retire. Yet, 80 percent to 90 percent of women will be responsible for their own finances at some point in their lives.2

For these reasons, women need to prepare more than men for their future financial needs. "Women have a unique set of needs when it comes to planning for their future. Plan A doesn't always make sense when raising a family or climbing the career ladder. Investing can sometimes take a back seat," stated James Welch, 1st Financial Investment Services financial advisor. He went on to say, "Understanding the investing products available and how much you should expect to save are very important first steps."

The seminar is designed to educate women to be careful, knowledgeable, disciplined long-term investors and attain financial security. The focus of this seminar will be on the importance of taking control of the future through investing, investment principles and opportunities such as asset allocation, investor behavior, mutual funds and annuities. The seminar will be led by Cindy Hill, a retirement planning consultant for CUNA Mutual Group in Waverly, Iowa. She specializes in IRA distribution planning, retirement income planning and assists with case consultation for approximately 400 financial advisors nationwide.

To take the first step in learning how to become a successful lifelong investor, simply register for the no-cost, no obligation Women and Investing seminar by calling Laura at (636) 916-8303.
