MCUA Annual Advocacy & Business Meeting April 15-16: CFPB Speaker and Legislative Visits
Missouri credit union leaders attending the Missouri Credit Union Association’s (MCUA) Annual Advocacy and Business Meeting will hear the latest news from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). CFPB Associate Director for External Affairs Zixta Martinez is scheduled to address attendees on Monday, April 15.
The CFPB was created by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010. The CFPB is tasked with supervising financial services institutions and enforcing consumer financial protection laws.
Registered attendees have the opportunity to submit a question for the CFPB, which may be answered by Ms. Martinez during the MCUA meeting.
The MCUA Annual Advocacy and Business Meeting takes place April 15-16, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Jefferson City. Other speakers include Ryan Donovan, senior vice president of Legislative Affairs for the Credit Union National Association; John McKechnie, partner with Total Spectrum; Peggy Nalls, chief advocacy officer for the Missouri Credit Union Association; and Don Cohenour, president/CEO of the Missouri Credit Union Association.
A reception and dinner with state legislators ends the day on Monday, April 15, followed by visits at the State Capitol on Tuesday, April 16. Credit union participants are encouraged to contact legislators in advance to set up visits, and alert MCUA if you have appointments with specific lawmakers.
