St. Louis Chapter Hosts Free College Planning 101 Seminar

In these challenging economic times, it is more important than ever for students and families to plan accordingly and fully understand their financial aid options. The St. Louis Chapter of Credit Unions is hosting a Consumer Seminar, “College Planning 101: Timely Tips for Cost-Effective College Funding” on April 22, 2013. Seminar presenter, Melissa Hunt has worked as the VP of Client Relations and Education with Credit Union Student Choice in Washington D.C. since its inception in 2008.

Seminar topics include:

  • Preparing for and choosing a college
  • Understanding the FAFSA process
  • Work study
  • Financial aid overview and key terms
  • Scholarships and grants
  • Student loan (federal and private)

There is no cost for your credit union to participate or for your members to attend. The only potential expense is what you choose to spend promoting the seminar to your members. The Chapter will provide artwork for a statement insert and flyer that you may customize and print on your own. Contact Laura Alfeldt by email.  

Participating credit unions are required to:

  1. Provide a count of members attending by April 15 to Lori Hudson
  2. Send a representative to the event to help with miscellaneous setup, member registration and minor cleanup
