Credit Union Leaders Attend Inaugural Events in Jefferson City
Representatives from Missouri credit unions and the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) were in Jefferson City to attend the inaugural events held January 13-14. During the two-day event, credit union leaders met with lawmakers and other distinguished guests, including State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (D) who held an inauguration reception Sunday evening.
Those who attended were Dennis Pierce and Pat Yokley (CommunityAmerica), Jennifer Wright (Arsenal Credit Union), Peggy Nalls and David Kent (MCUA).
“This was great opportunity for credit union leaders to develop relationships with new and returning lawmakers,” says Nalls. “It is important for credit unions to be well represented at events like this, and as we move forward there will be more opportunities for credit unions to participate and get involved.”
The two-day celebration was part of the inauguration ceremony for Governor Jay Nixon (D) and other state executives, including Attorney General Chris Koster (D), Treasurer Clint Zweifel (D), Secretary of State Jason Kander (D), and Lt. Governor Peter Kinder (R).
The events commenced Sunday evening with a cocktail party and dinner at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. Monday’s festivities began early with a morning parade followed by the inauguration ceremony and concluded that evening with the Grand March and Inaugural Ball.
Also in attendance for the inaugural events were ‘Credit Union Champions’ Rep. Michael Frame (D - District 111) and Rep. Jon Carpenter (D - District 15). Rep. Frame returns to the House after a brief hiatus and Rep. Carpenter is a freshman legislator. Both are strong supporters of the credit union movement.
