Credit Union Mergers in Southwest Missouri
The southwest region of Missouri experienced two credit union mergers in 2012. Greater Ozarks Community merged into BluCurrent Credit Union (Springfield) in August. This expands BluCurrent’s network to six branches across southwest Missouri, serving nearly 20,000 members and $140 million in assets.
“It has become increasingly difficult to provide ever changing financial products and services to our members and maintain a competitive edge within today’s regulatory environment,” says Al Wagner, Chairman of the Board for Greater Ozarks Community. “We are excited to make this transition.”
CU Community Credit Union (Springfield) completed its merger with Southwest Missouri Credit Union (Springfield), switching all members to its modern banking platform and converting the former Southwest Missouri locations to the CU Community brand. The financial institution now has more than 10,000 members and $90 million in assets.
“CU Community is pleased to be the credit union for 3,500 additional people living and working in Greene and Christian Counties,” says CU Community president and CEO Judy Hadsall. “The merger is complete, and Southwest Missouri Credit Union members are already taking advantage of enhanced products and services offered by CU Community.”
Effective immediately, all converted customers have access to lower rates on loans, convenient online and mobile banking, and CU Community’s CardCash debit rewards program, which paid out $100,000 in October to members who used the CU Community VISA debit card over the past year.
