First Community Helps Nurses for Newborns Foundation

The employees of First Community Credit Union (Chesterfield) enjoyed a lot of dress-down days during the Thanksgiving holiday week.  They were given the option to participate in an event benefiting the Nurses for Newborns Foundation of St. Louis (NFNF). First Community had learned of a dire need for food and diapers to stock the shelves and provide for the needs of the families served by NFNF.  With a payroll donation of $25 or equivalent purchases off a ‘shopping list,’ the employee earned four days surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday to wear jeans in the office.  More than $1,500 was raised and on Friday, November 16, the marketing staff of First Community filled three SUV’s full of non-perishable food, diapers and wipes and delivered it to NFNF's door in Shrewsbury. Claire Devoto, development director of Nurses for Newborns, called it a “miracle” and said “the staff of First Community had made a huge difference in the lives of hundreds of people."

This event was one of 15 similar events held this year by First Community. “We at First Community have a soft spot for operations like this” said President Glenn Barks. ”It gives us hope and pleasure to be part of the giving.”
