CUlead is a program aimed at building and enhancing our credit union management staffs' leadership abilities to further the credit union and cooperative movements. With these CUlead spotlights, we're excited to shine a light on these leaders.
This week, we meet Steven Beachum, direct loan officer at Mid American Credit Union (Wichita, KS)
How long have you been in the credit union industry?
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
You're not supposed to have it all figured out. You won't have it all figured out. Work hard, set goals, and have fun doing it.
How would you describe your job to a group of five-year-olds?
People ask me for money. Sometimes I give it to them and sometimes I don't. Sometimes they pay me back and sometimes they don't. When they don't pay me back they get in trouble.
If you were a car, what kind would you be and why?
I would be a Corvette ZR1. The Corvette ZR1 is fierce and fast. It is bright and shines. It can be mellow and fit in with the crowd, but loud, determined, put the power down when you need it to. It is something you don't see often, but when you do you won't be disappointed.
