Credit Union of America (Wichita, KS) announced new hires, promotions and expansion of management team.

Brianna Blackford has joined as CUA's diversity strategist. She will create initiatives, execute strategies, improve processes and policies supporting an inclusive workplace environment. Her scope will include hiring practices, pay equity, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) awareness, access, education, and training.

Brianna earned her bachelor’s degree in strategic communication from Wichita State University and a graduate certificate in Human Resource Management from Park University (Parkville, MO.). She brings experience in Human Resources and DEI having worked in the healthcare and aerospace industries.

Jon Douglas has been promoted to vice president of technical operations. He joins CUA’s management team where he will bring expertise and representation from the technical operations business unit.

Jon joined CUA in February 2022 as AVP of security, then promoted to AVP information technology (IT) operations and infrastructure programs. He is responsible for the IT operations, infrastructure and security programs ensuring that service levels continuously advance and support the foundational technology needs of CUA.

Kelsey Henderson has been promoted to real estate loan operations manager. Kelsey joined CUA in 2012 as a loan processor, after three years of real estate experience in the financial services industry. In her new role, she will oversee daily operations of the real estate loan processing department and serve as a resource for lenders and processors in qualifying loans.

Henderson earned her bachelor’s degree in business from Wichita State University, Wichita, KS. and her associate degree from Garden City Community College, Garden City, KS.

Kelsey Henderson

Lee Penrod has joined as CUA’s information technology (IT) security manager. Lee will oversee CUA’s cyber security, IT compliance obligations, and internal security education. He brings 24 years of IT experience to CUA having worked as an IT manager in the Aerospace industry, consultant in network engineering, and technical support.

He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

Lee Penrod

Melissa Gattenby has been promoted to vice president of business practices. She joins CUA’s management team providing representation and knowledge of the Business Practices unit. 

A 15-year employee of CUA, she previously served as AVP. 

Melissa manages enterprise project management and delivery, business process improvement, and business intelligence which includes data warehouse, business analytics, and KPI/executive reporting.

Nicole El-Chami has been promoted to vice president of support and deposit services. She now serves on CUA’s management team where she will bring expertise and represent the support & deposit services division.

She served previously as an AVP and has been with CUA for 12 years. She is both an accredited ACH and Payments/Risk Professional. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and an MBA from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas.   

Nicole oversees staff, programs, productivity, and quality for IRA & retirement services, deposit services, CUA’s member support, and the teller assist professionals (TAP) area.

Nicole El-Chami

Parker Welborn has been promoted to branch manager of the Woodlawn Branch. He joined CUA in 2019 as a financial service representative at the Maize branch and then an assistant branch manager at both the Ridge and Delano branches. His new responsibilities include providing excellent member service to CUA members, while managing staff, goals, and branch compliance. He oversees decisioning loan applications, is active in marketing the branch in the community, and oversees bank processes and procedures to maintain branch compliance.

Parker earned his bachelor’s in business administration (2018) at Pittsburg State University (KS), double majoring in Marketing and Management, with a minor in Leadership Studies. He is also a co-owner of a small business.

Steve Seiler has joined as CUA's information technology (IT) infrastructure manager. Seiler supervises and leads network and server administrators, manages vendor relationships for telephone, internet, and servers, and formulates recommendations for software and hardware upgrades. Seiler earned both his Master of Science in Educational Technology and Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology/Electronics Engineering Technology from Pittsburg State University (Kansas).

Steve brings over 20 years of IT experience from telephone and service provider industries, specializing in networks for 15 years.
