Arsenal CU teams up with the Arnold Food Pantry to help those less fortunate

With average gas prices hitting an all-time national high of $5.00 per gallon in early June and many people already struggling with putting food on the table at home, the Arnold Food Pantry began distributing free $25 gas cards last month to its clients who rely on it for nutritional needs.

Funds donated by Arsenal Credit Union and another company with a local presence made this possible.

Arsenal donated $6,000 for this specific cause and has supported the Arnold Food Pantry the past few years through other donations and food drives at its branches. Employees from Arsenal distributed gas cards and insulated lunch bags with household items inside on two consecutive Thursdays last month, putting smiles on the faces of many people and bringing relief to their wallets. More gas cards will be handed out again to clients in several weeks.

The Arnold Food Pantry is recognized as the largest independent food distribution center in the St. Louis region, serving most of northern Jefferson County and parts of St. Louis County.

Neighbors Credit Union introduces On-Demand Pay for its team

Neighbors Credit Union launched On-Demand Pay for its team members, giving them the financial flexibility to receive wages earned earlier, making any day payday if desired.

"We are excited to bring early, on-demand pay to our team. As day-to-day purchases, bill payments and budgets are often scheduled around when they receive their paycheck, on-demand pay can help reduce financial stress,” explains David Wilhelm, chief team experience officer. “Financial wellness begins with our team. By providing this cash flow flexibility, we can make managing money easier for our team members and improve their workplace satisfaction.”

Earlier this year, the Credit Union introduced early availability of direct deposits for its members, up to two days early. “We are always looking for ways to serve our members better,” says Jason Heath, president/CEO. “In these uncertain times of rising costs and increasing inflation, making it easier for members (and employees) to access their funds early affords them confidence and convenience in living their lives and managing their money.”

Two HCUA-member credit unions named as "Top Workplace"

Congratulations to Electro Savings Credit Union and Together Credit Union for receiving the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Top Workplace award

To identify outstanding workplaces in the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan Area, the St. Louis Post Dispatch partnered with Energage, an enterprise and network solutions company specializing in employee engagement.  Nearly 2,500 organizations were invited to participate in the Top Workplaces program, which included a 24-question survey on workplace culture.  The surveys were then distributed to employees for feedback, which is the sole basis for determining which employers make the Top Workplaces list.

To effectively compare feedback, Energage grouped companies based on the number of employees in the region. Electro Savings Credit Union, which has 64 employees, placed in the small company category; Together Credit Union, which has 408 employees, placed in the mid-sized company category.

“This recognition is a testament to our team members’ unwavering commitment to serving our members. It’s the foundation for our culture at the credit union. We see it in every interaction, every day,” said Claire Trunko, chief people and strategy officer at Together Credit Union. "We are honored to be recognized as a top workplace and, more importantly, are committed to continuing to build on the insights gained through the invaluable feedback to strengthen our people-first culture.”
