CUlead is a program aimed at building and enhancing our credit union management staffs' leadership abilities to further the credit union and cooperative movements. With these CUlead spotlights, we're excited to shine a light on these leaders.
This week, we meet Shannon Lauber, operations support & deposit services manager at Credit Union of America (Wichita, KS).
How long have you be in the credit union industry?
What is your favorite thing about working at a credit union?
I love the culture of credit unions. We really do live by the fact that we want to make a difference in our members lives.
What does true leadership mean to you?
To me, leadership is being able to empower your team to be the best versions of themselves. As a leader, you provide the support and tools someone needs in order to best do their job and be confident in the answers and output of work they are doing. If we, as leaders, are not working to develop and grow our staff, then we are not doing our job.
There are two types of people in this world. What are the two types?
Someone who always sees the positive, and someone who always sees the negative. Although, it is important to recognize both the positive and negative of a situation, when you are constantly looking for the negative, it closes your mind to so many opportunities.
